What does a port number do?
When you change carriers, the new provider usually asks for the number you're bringing over. That transfer — the port-in — is how many stores unlock switch deals like free phones, account credits, and trade-in boosts that can add up to hundreds of dollars.
You don't need to keep a live plan on the old number. You need working port credentials from another network. PortPilot sells those ready-to-use numbers starting from $10. After you pay, details show on this website and we email the same copy to you.
- No live plan needed on the number
- Works for in-store (and many online) switches
- Helps you qualify for current switch deals
- Shown on the site after payment — also emailed

Questions people ask
What do I show the store when I switch?
After you pay, your phone number, account number, and transfer PIN appear on the order page on this website. We also email the same details. Bring those three items to the new carrier’s store (or enter them online if they allow it).
Which networks can I switch between?
PortPilot offers numbers from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket, and Boost. You typically port into a different carrier that accepts transfers — your new provider runs the port and confirms eligibility for their current deals.
How quickly will I get my number?
As soon as the transaction completes, we start activating. Most Verizon, AT&T, and Cricket orders show on your order page within about five minutes, and the same details are emailed. Busy periods can take up to about 15 minutes. Check spam if the email is missing, and keep the order page open to copy details right away.
Do I need service already running on the number?
No. You don’t keep an active plan on the PortPilot number. You only need the phone number plus account and PIN so the new carrier can start the port.
How long can I wait before using it?
Windows differ by network: Verizon about 10 days, AT&T about 10 days, Cricket about 7 days, and T-Mobile about 30 days from when details arrive. Complete your switch before that window closes.
Can I finish the switch online instead of in a store?
Some carriers let you port online, but many of the best phone and credit offers still happen in-store. If you’re chasing a promotion, an in-person visit is usually the safer path.
